Soto Ayam is one of the most popular indonesian food. Beside the Nasi Goreng is Soto Ayam also a typical food for a breakfast. It has an interesting flavour, the combination of the curcuma, ginger, lemon gras and lime leaves give an interesting flavour. There are a lot of different kinds of Soto, it depends on the area where people live. This one is a East-Java style, where i come from. You can eat it with rice or glass noodles or you can eat it without side dish as a starter. If you like to eat spicy, you can add chili. It would be better, if you add lime juice, then it gives a fresh flavour. Good combination with the spicy flavour. Happy cooking ;-)

300gr Hänchenfillet/ 300gr Chicken filet
250l Wasser/ 250l Water

Cook the water and then add the chicken. Let them boil.

Meanwhile chopped the onion, the garlic and the ginger. Slice the leak thin. Preheat oil in a pan and add all the ingredients including curcuma, the lemon grass and the lime leaves.

After you fried them, add them directly to the broth. Let them all cook.

Get the chicken out of the broth and slice it.

You can serve Soto and rice separately just like in the pictures or put rice in a bowl and then add the broth. Sprinkle a little bit of lime juice and stir them all well. Add some slice of chicken, chips and roasted onion. Cut an egg into a half and serve with the Soto.

Crispy Potatoes Wedges

Summer is almost over, so I use the opportunity to have a barbeque everytime the sun is shining. Today I wanna share you the recipe of the potatoes wedges, which is one of my favorite side dishes for barbeque beside the couscous salad and the noodle salad. If I host a barbeque party I make one or two of them. I don't like bread very much as side dish, it's probably because I grown up in Indonesian and always ate rice ;-)

Zutaten/ Ingredients:

500 gr Kartoffeln/ Potatoes
2 EL Mehl/ 2 spoons All-purpose Flour
2 TL Paprikapulver/ 2 ts Pepper powder
1 TL Knoblauchpulver/ 1 TL Garlic powder
1 EL Olivenöl/ 1 spoon Olive oil
Salz und Pfeffer/ Salt and Pepper

Zubereitung:

Kartoffeln gründlich waschen und 10 Minuten kochen. Abkühlen und dann vierteln.
Ofen 180° C vorheizen.

How to cook:

Wash the potatoes and boil them about 10 Minutes. Let them cool and then cut them into quarter.
Preheat the oven 180° C.
Seasoning the potatoes with the half part of the spicery. Put the other half part into the flour and mix it well.
Add olive oil to the potatoes and stir them well. And then add the flour and mix them very well until the potatoes covered by the flour.
Put them on a baking tray and baked them about 30 Minutes until they're brown and crispy.
